Mechanism of action

To wound exudate Upon contact, Biatain® Alginate Ag transforms into a soft, cohesive gel whose shape closely conforms to the wound bed for infection control. The silver complex releases ions in the presence of wound exudate.

Product composition

Biatain® Alginate Ag is an alginate dressing composed of alginate, carboxymethylcellulose (KMS), and an ionic silver complex.

Use

Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used on all partial to full thickness wounds with moderate to heavy exudation. Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used on wounds at risk of infection or infected wounds. Biatain® Alginate Ag can be used under compression bandages. Biatain® Alginate Ag should not be used on dry or lightly exuding wounds or to control heavy bleeding. Biatain® Alginate Ag is indicated for leg ulcers, pressure sores, diabetic foot ulcers, donor sites, traumatic wounds and second-degree burns.
